Degree in Physics
Thesis in Applied Geophysics entitled “Study of the frequency scattering of electrical resistivity in the magnetotelluric investigation of two-dimensional crustal structures”, grade 110/110 cum laude; the thesis was awarded the gold medal “A. Norinelli” of the GNGTS (National Solid Earth Geophysics Group) and the University of Padua in 1994 as the best thesis in Applied Geophysics of that academic year. University of Naples Federico II
PhD in Geophysics and Volcanology
Dissertation in Applied Geophysics entitled “Electromagnetic Tomography” University of Naples Federico II
Director of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education of the University of Molise. (2012 - 2014)
Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Molise. (2009 - 2012)
Director of the Institute of Applied Technologies for Cultural Heritage, CNR.
The research topics mainly concern the development and application of probability tomography in geophysical studies applied to volcanology and near-surface studies, with special reference to archaeological and architectural problems. A significant part of the activity concerned the development of prototypes of portable electromagnetic instruments for cultural heritage and algorithms for 3D tomography processing of geoelectrical and electromagnetic data.
The research also deals with the integration of geophysical tomography with 3D reliefs for the knowledge, the valorization and the protection of the hidden heritage, in particular of the so-called secondary sites, and coordinates national and international research projects.
