Short Biography
Francesco Lopez is a Professor of Physical Chemistry and General Chemistry at University of Molise, Italy. He earned a B.S. in Physiology and Biophysics at University of Bari in 1995 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Bari, Italy, in 2000. During his Ph.D studentships he joined the field of photoinduced membrane protein in the lab of Prof. Janos Lanyi in Irvine (CA). He found the ideal fusion of biophysical knowledge with the more general area of the colloidal science during the postdoctoral fellow, in the lab of Prof. Andrea Ceglie, University of Molise, Italy. At the present, his laboratory is located in the Dept. of Agricultural, Environment and Food Sciences, University of Molise, Italy. The principal interest of Francesco Lopez research work, conducted with a young and enthusiastic team, is focused on surfaces and interfaces with activities covering a broad range of fundamental surface and interfacial phenomena.
Recent research topics are: use of colloidal systems for food applications; development of devices for controlled release of bioactive molecules (liposomes, polyelectrolyte capsules, emulsions, hydrogels); development of composite materials for environmental remediation; supramolecular design for active edible coatings; study of antioxidants role in olive oil; stability study of emulsions (food, cosmetics, detergents).
