Roberto dell’Omo, MD, is Full Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of Molise, Campobasso, Italy and Chair of the Ophthalmology Department Campobasso-Isernia, Italy. He received his medical degree graduating summa cum laude in 2001 at Catholic University of Rome, Italy followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Catholic University of Rome, Italy, completed in 2005. He then completed a Medical Retina Fellowship from February 2006 to July 2007 at Moorfields Eye Hospital, NHS Trust, London (UK), a Glaucoma Research Fellowship from July 2007 to June 2008 at Moorfields Eye Hospital, NHS Trust, London (UK) and a Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship from May 2010 to September 2011 at the Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam (NH).
From November 2018 to March 2023 he worked as Vitreo-Retinal Consultant at the “Antonio Cardarelli” General Hospital of Campobasso, Italy. From April 2024 he held the position of Chair of the Ophthalmology Department Campobasso-isernia, Italy. In his clinical career he has performed more than 3500 operations on the anterior segment of the eye and more than 2500 vitreo-retinal surgeries including complex trauma cases.
His clinical and research interests focus on medical and surgical treatment of vitreo-retinal pathologies and retinal imaging. He has authored 88 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 28 of which as first author.
