Curriculum
Roberto Parisi is a Full Professor of Architectural History (ICAR/18) at the University of Molise, where he holds the courses in History of Architecture, History of Architecture and the City, History of Industrial Heritage, History of Design, and History of Restoration.
He obtained his degree in Architecture in 1991 and his PhD in History and Criticism of Architecture from the University of Naples "Federico II" in 1996. Between 1986 and 1992, he received scholarships at Italian and European research institutes, and in 1992 he was awarded the first prize in historical essay writing "Francesco Savini" for the best thesis.
From 1996 to 2006, he conducted research at public institutions and universities in Italy and abroad (France, Spain), and since 1996, he has taught at the Universities of Naples ("Federico II" and "Suor Orsola Benincasa), Molise, Padua, and Roma Tre. In 2003, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Marseille-Aix en Provence and the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme.
His main research interests include the history of architecture in the late modern and contemporary eras, urban history and urban iconography, and the history of industrial heritage and production landscapes.
He was an editor for the journal of architecture and visual arts "Napoli Nobilissima" in 1997-1998 and for the "Bollettino" of Industrial Archaeology from 1985 to 1994. From 2007 to 2017, he was the director of the journal "Patrimonio Industriale" and from 2009 to 2016, a member of the editorial board of "Ricerche Storiche." Currently, he is the Director of the journal "OS. Opificio della Storia" (since 2020), a member of the international scientific committee of the journal "Eikonocity" (since 2015), and a member of the editorial board of the journal "Glocale" (since 2009).
Former Vice President of AIPAI (Italian Association for Industrial Archaeological Heritage) from 2007 to 2016, he is currently the Coordinator of the National Scientific Committee "Industrial Heritage" of ICOMOS Italy (since 2020), a member of the International Scientific Committee of CIRICE (Interdepartmental Center for the Iconography of the European City at the University of Naples "Federico II"), and a member of the Board of Directors of the national association RESpro (Network of Historians for Production Landscapes).
He has received two special mentions: in 2014 (Città di Terni "Gino Papuli" Essay Prize 2013) for the book "Fabbriche d'Italia. L'architettura industriale dall'Unità alla fine del Secolo breve," Milan, Franco Angeli 2011, and in 2022 (Treccani Prize) for the best essay published in the journal "Storia Urbana" in the biennium 2020-21.
