She is born in Naples (Italy), married with Toni, she has three children Camilla, Leyla and Giuseppe and a granddaughter Esmeralda.

Master Degree in Agricultural Sciences University of Naples “Federico II”.

Full Professor of Food Microbiology at the University of Molise, Italy.

Director of the Department of Agricultural Environmental and Food Science (DiAAA), University of Molise, Italy.

Teaching Activity

Courses taught at University of Molise, Italy

Food microbiology, Biotechnology in food processing, Management of food microbiological quality, Microbiology of cereal and confectionery products, Microbiology of fermented food.

She is member of the Committee of the International PhD in Agri-Food Production Sciences and Food Science, Technology and Biotechnolog. 

She is Tis a tutor for PhD students of both doctoral courses.

She is supervisor of more than 200 Degree and Master Degree theses in Food Microbiology.

 

Research Interest

Research activities concern: microbiota of fermented and fresh foods; interactions between microorganisms; antimicrobial activity of lactic acid bacteria; antimicrobial activity of natural compounds; development of innovative techniques for the storage of perishable foods; study of interesting characteristics of probiotic bacteria; stress response of food-related microorganisms; development of probiotic and symbiotic food.

These research activities are documented by more than 100 published papers on national and international scientific journal and books and by about 150 communications and posters presented at scientific Congresses and Conferences.

 

Coordinator Activity

She is coordinator and scientific responsible of research projects funded by Campania Region and Molise Region; responsible of DiAAA team in research projects funded by Italian Ministry of University and Campania Region; responsible of research activities of projects funded by UE and Italian Ministry of Agriculture. These projects are carried out in collaboration with other Italian research groups and with European research groups (Spanish, French, Swiss, Greek, etc.)
